This is Jim Houser. I am completely obsessed with his work. He does these meticulous, perfect paintings that are really illustrations with beautiful mini-stories. He is an amazing designer as well: when he shows at a gallery, he writes on the walls and builds chairs and makes weavings out of straw….and it still somehow all looks like his paintings.
He had his solo show next door to our group show at the gallery last month. On opening night, I kept sneaking over to his side of the gallery and staring at his illustrations. People were coming in like, “Leah show us your painting? Good job!” And I was like, “Have you seen Jim Houser’s work?” I think I barely talked to anyone the whole night.
so now this is gone, but...
Oh and I just found out that the entire show was online. Why I didn’t know this before is a mystery. ANYWAY here is a nice way to see all of the pieces from the Jonathon Levine show from last month…. it just ended last week.
